Frequently Asked Questions “Shipping Lady M® Cakes...”
- Q: What can I expect when I order a cake that will be shipped outside of New York City?
- A: All cakes are handmade daily in our factory. The cakes created for shipping are frozen, wrapped, and set in a styrofoam box with dry ice which is then packaged to ship. Cakes are shipped Monday through Thursday and are delivered the following day. A 48-hour notice is required for cakes ordered for shipping. In addition to the cost of the cake, the customer is charged the cost of the FedEx Standard Overnight delivery service and our packing/material charge of $20 per cake.
- Q: What is the shelf-life of the cakes?
- A: Typically, our cakes last for 2 days in the refrigerator and 2 weeks in the freezer.
- Q: How long does it take to defrost a cake?
- A: Our cakes take about 5 to 6 hours to defrost in the refrigerator.
- Q: How many servings per cake?
- A: You may get as many as 16 slices per cake but we suggest 12 to 14.
- Q: How big is the box in which the cake is shipped and how much does it weigh?
- A: We presently use two different box sizes. One is approximately 15¨ x 14¨ x 10¨. The other is approximately 13¨ x 13¨ x 7¨. After the cake is packaged and ready to ship, the box weighs approximately 8 to 10 pounds.
